When you have a sum that is point, the round will continue, and the dice will be rolled again until the point sum appears again or the sum of the dice is 7. If the point sum appears before 7, the player wins the bet on the pass line. If 7 appears before the point total, the player loses his bet on the pass line. The payout is then 1:1.
The counterpart to the pass line bet is called don’t pass. Here, the player wins if the sum of the dice is 2 or 3 and loses if the sum is 7 or 11. If the sum is 12, it is a draw and the player gets his bet back. The other numbers become point as described above.
The other term you should know in craps is pass odds also called come. This is a bet that can only be placed after a point has been established, and only players who have made a pass line bet at the beginning before the round started can place the bet.
Placing an odds bet means that you make an extra bet where you bet that the point sum will appear before the sum of 7. In many ways, you simply increase your pass line bet. The important difference, however, is that if the point total appears before 7, you only win 1:1 on your pass line bet. On the money you placed an odds bet with, a significantly larger win is paid out according to the real odds.
Bets on pass odds or come are paid according to the actual odds. This means that the house (casino) has no particular advantage. Bets on pass odds are therefore one of the things that give the best chances of winning at a casino, regardless of what kind of game you play.
If you want to have decent chances of winning in craps, it is wise to stick to the most common betting methods that we have mentioned above.
